Painting
We have installed a 200 square metre pressurised spray booth in our finishing shop. This is where we spray-paint our colours, using the best quality electrostatic spray-guns on the market. These special spray-guns make the paint magnetic, so that less paint is dispersed. That means that less paint is wasted and less waste means less to dispose of. Once the paintwork we have chosen has been completed and all our antique-effect techniques have been applied - always by hand, obviously! - everything is then fixed with a transparent coating and put into the kiln for firing. This treatment makes our paint "fuse" with the underlying metal, making it practically indestructible. But the result could never be perfect if this process had not been preceded by our "unfinished piece treatment". Over the years, we have established that iron is a material that "gathers" other elements to itself in nature. That, for example, is the reason why an ordinary iron bar will discolour differently if it is left to rust undisturbed. In order to avoid the gradual development of unsightly differences in tone, then, all of our products are subjected to sanding before being sent to the paintshop. In this process, a special machine shoots steel sand at a high speed: the effect is to destroy all the impurities in the iron. This enables us to achieve a perfect surface on which our electrostatic spray-guns can then perform at their best.
